My Favorite Sandwich

I heart sandwiches: turkey, tuna, roast beef, PB & J,'s all good. :) There's just something about them that makes me happy. Anyhow, this recipe is for my absolute favorite sandwich. I made it again recently (twice!) and it was every bit as delicious as the first time I concocted it in my little apartment in Malden, Massachusetts.

Blooming Onion Lovin' Sandwich

Makes four servings

4 multi-grain hoagie rolls
4 tbsp. butter
garlic (either powdered or minced)
1/2 lb. deli sliced roast beef
4 slices of colby jack or muenster cheese
Leftovers from either a Blooming Onion (Outback Steakhouse) or Cactus Blossom (Texas Roadhouse)
Butter up your hoagie rolls. Add garlic - however much makes you happy. Toast in the oven at 400 for 5-10 min or until slightly golden.
The leftover dip is going to be our spicy sweet mayo. Spread it onto the toasted hoagie rolls. Now pile on the roast beef, cheese, lettuce and finally, the blooming onion.
It's a tad bit messy but insanely delicious. Next time you're at Outback Steakhouse or Texas Roadhouse, make sure you order their fried onion so that you can bring the leftovers home and slap one of these suckers together the next afternoon. Your taste buds will rejoice.
