Delicious Pizza Recipe


Khale and I are addicts - pizza addicts, that is. We probably eat the cheesy goodness at least once every other week. It's just too darn good not to. So, over the three years we've been married, I've made quite a few pizzas. This one is my new favorite though so I thought I would post it on here.


Now, the secret to a good homemade pizza lies in the crust. All too often homemade crusts are really heavy and not all that tasty. About a year ago I found a pizza crust recipe in a magazine (I want to say it was Diet and Nutrition but I can't remember for sure) and it's been the best one I've ever come across.




Perfect Pizza Crust
Two large pizza crusts

1 pkg. active dry yeast
1 1/2 cups warm water
pinch of sugar
----> Mix yeast, water, and sugar in a large bowl. Let sit until bubbly (about five minutes).

4 cups all purpose white flour (you can also use 2 1/2 cups white flour and 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour)
2 1/2 tsp. salt
----> Mix into yeast water, 1 cup of the flour. Add salt. Mix. Add remaining flour. Knead for 10 minutes. Place in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and set in a warm place until double in volume (1 - 1 1/2 hours).
2 tbsp. olive oil
cornmeal
----> Punch dough down and roll into two balls. Spread oil onto two round baking sheets or pizza stones. Sprinkle with cornmeal. Press each ball of dough onto a baking sheet. Add sauce and toppings; bake at 400, on the bottom rach of your oven, until the cheese has melted and the crust is golden brown.
