Pear Tart

Last weekend we went over to one of my husband's co-worker's homes for a little New Years Day lunch. I was in the mood for pears so I whipped this little dessert up to bring with us. I've never made one before but halfway through I decided it would be a good thing to share on here, even if it didn't turn out. Happily, it did turn out pretty well. I think. I've also never eaten a pear tart before so I don't really have any thing to go off of.

Pear Tart
(Printable Recipe)

1/2 of the dough from Perfection in a Pie Crust
3 pears, thinly sliced
1 tbsp. butter, melted

Roll the pie crust into a square, trimming it as necessary. Layer sliced pears onto crust, leaving about a 1" border of crust around the edges. Fold edges up.

Like so.

Brush the pears with the melted butter.
Sprinkle the entire tart with a light dusting of white sugar and cinnamon. Bake at 375 for 25 minutes. Brush the crust with a beaten egg white. Bake for another 10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden and flaky.

Before serving, drizzle with honey. Adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top makes it very un-New-Years-Resolution-friendly but very appetite-friendly.
