Tuesday's Kitchen Tip - How to Slice a Pineapple

Welcome to a new feature on this little blog of mine! Every Tuesday I'll be bringing you a new tip that will help you out in the kitchen.

This week - How to Slice a Pineapple!

Now, pretty much anyone can figure out how to get to the goodness inside a pineapple. However, if you slice it this way, you'll get wayyy more edible fruit out of your pineapple. And I love pineapple so I'm all about getting as much out of them as I possibly can.

The unsuspecting victim.

Slice off the top and the bottom.

Now, working around the pineapple, slice off the hard outer layer. You want to be sure and cut the brown "eyes" off along with the skin.

That sounds morbid. Goodness.

Now, the center, or core, of each pineapple is gosh darn tough and unpleasant. Slice large hunks off each side of it. If you feel your knife resisting the cut at all, you're cutting too close to the core and will end up with some tough pineapple on your hands.

The piece standing up is the core, which we'll throw away.

Slice up each of the hunks. Look how juicy it is! Yum!

No "eyes," no core and lots of fresh pineapple. Perfect!
