Super Savings: Eating Out

I'm not a super huge fan of eating out but my husband would eat out every day. I don't know how he does it.

Although, I do especially love when someone else does the dishes for me. :)

Since, as you've already discovered, I'm cheap, I like to find ways to get great deals when we eat out. There's tons of ways to save mucho dinero when you eat out. Here's a few of my favorites:

#1 - If you haven't tried Restaurant.com yet, you totally should. My husband and I love it. It basically works like Groupon. You can get $25 gift certificates (available on your computer almost instantly after purchase) for $10. Sign up for their e-mail list and you'll be notified of their promotions. Right now, if you enter the coupon code HEART at checkout, you can get a $25 gift certificate for $3! (Expires 2/7).

#2 - Happy Hour. Check with your favorite restaurant to see when they offer happy hour. It's usually 4-6 so you could go for a 5:00 dinner and get half priced appetizers (get a couple and share them: cheap entree!) and drinks.

#3 - Party Like it's Your Birthday. Check out these two sweet lists (http://www.frugalliving.tv/free-stuff/birthday-freebies.html) (http://www.mrfreestuff.com/36-free-food-deals-for-your-birthday/) of businesses who offer free food on your birthday! It's my birthday next week and you can bet your bottom that I'll be heading out to get my free Coldstone ice cream and some deliciously free Starbucks.

#4 - Have kids? Most casual restaurants offer "Kids Eat Free" nights - again check out your favorite restaurant's website or call in to see what days and times you can take advantage of that. Our daughter rarely eats even half of her meal when we eat out so it's especially nice when it's free. :)

Do you have any money saving tips for eating out? Do you just order waters? Split entrees?

  1. When we go to nice sit-down restaurants we usually have the boys share a kids meal because they are usually pretty big. This works because we usually bring Simeon's milk with us in a sippy cup anyways. Otherwise you would have to order another milk. I usually have an applesauce in my purse to supplement too if its not quite enough. Or give them some of our food since most restaurants portions are way too big anyways!

We also usually only order water. :)

I'm going to have to check out restaurant.com. Thanks for the tip! :)

  2. Great tips for saving money while eating out! I'd also like to remind everyone, that after you saved a few bucks, why don't you leave a little of that savings for your server? :)
