Father's Day Book Review and Giveaway!

Giveaway is now closed!

We have a winner! Random.org selected entry #2...

Congratulations LeGwen! Please send your address and phone number to frontierkitchen@gmail.com so we can get your book in the mail.

Life is pretty much madness right now. But in a good way.

Anyhow, I wanted to pop in today for a quick Father's Day review and giveaway - yay!

A few weeks ago I received a copy of Cooking for Geeks in the mail. I brought it along with me when we flew to Tennessee to visit my family and I immediately got sucked into it on the plane. I'm really not sure whether it's more appropriate to call it a book or a cookbook because it's super thick and packed with tons of helpful information, tips, tricks, recipes, and scientific explanations.

Now, my husband is a wonderful guy. Really. But there is one area that he's somewhat lacking in - cooking skills. I love him but he's the guy who is clueless as to what it means to pull muffins out of the oven when they're golden brown. However! This book seems like the perfect cure.

It's written by Jeff Potter and done in a way to appeal towards guys. It's like Alton Brown on steroids. It explains the why and how of cooking and grilling, thereby eliminating any confusion in the kitchen when your guy wants to go make you something fabulous. I'm excited to give it to my husband...with maybe a recipe or two highlighted...you know, just encase he wants to make me something like a 30 second chocolate cake, or the perfect steak or grilled sweet potato fries or... :)

So, if you're looking for a Father's Day gift for the man in your life, you should totally check out Cooking for Geeks. You can buy it on Amazon by clicking here (and, shhhhh, it's under $20 - score!).

Or maybe, just maybe, you'd like to win a copy?

  2. If I won the book it would go to my precious husband, Kevin, first, but then my son, Xan, would so steal it.

  5. I'm sure I'd give it to my husband, but I'm sure I'd enjoy it more than he would. :)

  7. If I won, I'd give it to my middle bro, who is a total geek with no intuition for cooking...but he keeps trying, anyway! He loves Alton Brown, so I think he'd flip for this book. Perfect bday gift for a guy who has everything! :)

  8. If I won I'd give it to....MYSELF. 'Cause let's face it...I'm always going to do the cooking in my house and love every minute of it!

  9. I would give this to my husband. He never cooks, but he's a big Alton Brown fan. This sounds right up his alley.
