Oh my goodness that was a long break! Sorry about that. I missed y'all! My laptop died a few weeks ago and it took forever for me to figure out what the problem was and find the right part. But I did feel like a bit of a technical genius after fixing it all by my little self when the guys at a local tech place were of no assistance.
So how the heck have you been? I've got some yummy things to share with you but first I wanted to let you know about this new cookbook I've been baking out of recently:
Baking Basics and Beyond by Pat Sinclair. I love a good baking cookbook so I jumped at the chance to try this one out. Now, normally I just randomly flip through cookbooks at the bookstore and then wind up putting them back on the shelf because decide there's nothing earth shattering in there that I can't live without. I mean, in today's world with all the easy and free access to fabulous recipes online, I often can't justify paying for a cookbook.
But this one is different. I would buy this one. Want to know why?
Because of the extras that go with the recipes. At the beginning of each section there's several pages providing important information about the type of baked goods in that section. This acts as a guide to help you really understand the recipes and what techniques to use to achieve the best results. I learned soooo much about baking by just reading these pages.
Then there's also Baker's Notes and Secrets to Success that go with each recipe. These include a variety of tips, serving suggestions, substitution options, etc. Again, I learned and loved every moment of it.
In addition to all that goodness, this cookbook has a good collection of classic recipes that you can turn to whenever you're ready to get your bake on. From Buttered Rum Pound Cake to Savory Blue Cheese Cheesecake.
So who wants a copy? I'd love to give one to each one of y'all but I'm not sure my bank account would appreciate that. So we'll have to settle with giving a copy to one of you fabulous readers.
One reader will be randomly selected on March 31st. I'll announce the winner on here so be sure and check back then!
To enter, just leave a comment saying something along the lines of "Hey, I want to win!" or "Give me that book!" if you're feeling especially feisty.
You can earn an additional entry (be sure and leave a separate comment!) by sharing this giveaway or one of my recipes via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or email. Just let me know which option you chose.
If you want to leave your email address or blog link with your comment(s) I'll be sure and contact you that way as well if you're the winner.
Check back later this week for a yummy recipe straight from my little kitchen!
