It's 5:00 Somewhere...

And it's also Monday. I've never dreaded Mondays but I know many people do so I thought today was the perfect time to share my new favorite cocktail drink with y'all. Although, typing a cocktail recipe in the morning makes me feel a bit like an alcoholic.

I love pomegranate - as a fruit, as a juice, yogurt flavor, and even as a scent. It's one of my favorite things. And this Summer, my go-to adult beverage of choice has been gin and tonic. So I decided to combine the two and create a light, refreshing and sweet beverage. If you've never tried pomegranate juice, it's similar to cranberry juice - just without the tartness. The lime is a subtle little touch that really helps enhance all the other flavors. If you don't drink alcohol, you could totally make this without the gin. I might actually do that tonight.

One of the nice things about this drink is that it's super simple to make and doesn't require a lot of extra bar tools. Don't have a martini glass? Throw it in a regular drinking glass. Don't have a jigger? Use a 1/8 measuring cup.

Here's what we're going to use.

Just put a few ice cubes in your glass and pour the liquids in. Give it a squeeze of fresh lime juice at the end to finish it off.

Garnish, if you want to. I love the color combo of the lime and cocktail color.

Yum! You're going to love this.

Pomegranate Gin and Tonic
Yields 1 drink

1 jigger (about 1/8 cup) gin
2 tbsp. pomegranate juice
1/3 cup tonic water
1/4 of a fresh lime

Fill glass with ice. Pour gin, pomegranate juice and tonic over ice. Squeeze 1/4 of a fresh lime on top, give it a quick swirl with a spoon. Serve immediately and enjoy!
