Thanksgiving Recap

How was your Thanksgiving? Or, if you're reading this outside the U.S.A, how was your weekend? My husband, daughters and I all drove up to Sheridan, Wyoming, to spend the weekend with my inlaws. It was everything a holiday weekend should be - relaxing, fun and filled with good food.

It's been a while since I shared a bit of the personal side of my life with y'all. And since I just so happened to Instagram (sarah_damngoodfood) the heck out of my Thanksgiving weekend, I thought I would share.

One of the things I made was apple pie. I get a little carried away with making the crust pretty every year.

Oh and I made this sauce for the pie that I can't wait to share with y'all...sooo good!

The clouds were pink while the sun set on the drive up to Sheridan. I didn't snap a picture but the mountains looked periwinkle purple at the same time this was happening. Few things can compare to the beauty of Wyoming sunsets.

My Thanksgiving food prep philosophy is simle - cook everything and anything you can find in your kitchen that possibly fits within the Fall theme while you wait for the turkey to finish. You already made cranberries? Make a different variation of them. You already made mashed potatoes? Make sweet potatoes. And sauteed green beans and cornbread casserole and change the flavor of your caramel sauce, etc.

My other Thanksgiving philosophy is that you should eat pie at least twice a day until all the pie is gone.

My jeans are very snug today.

Since the new James Bond movie came out, there was a 007 movie marathon on various channels all weekend. We may have watched most of them.

Sheridan has an annual tradition where all the shops downtown are open on Friday and everyone comes out to walk along them, sip hot chocolate and ride the trolley. It's pretty quaint and charming. Like if you lived in Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls.

I snapped this photo because the King Ropes Saddlery store was bursting with people (I found the one spot people weren't shopping at because I feel awkward taking photos of strangers) on Black Friday. Because that's when people normally buy new spurs, right?

The husband and I walking around during the downtown stroll. Let's ignore how unflattering my face looks here.

Chicken Pesto Ranch pizza from Powder River Pizza in Sheridan. We eat dinner here pretty much every time we visit the inlaws because it's that good.

And it's kiddo-friendly so I don't feel too bad when Harper starts shreiking because she's being treated injustly (or because I refused to let her have any of my hard cider).

This is the town's movie theater. When I was 17, the dude I'm now married to and I saw a movie here (with a group of his family and friends...which included my older brother). I had a massive crush on Khale and he was just starting to figure that out. This theater will forever hold a special place in my heart.
